Biker BOT FAQ

What is Biker BOT?

Biker BOT is the official Discord bot for The Biker Collective. It handles member onboarding, moderation helpers, ride/event workflows, marketplace listings, SOS alert relay, showcase channels, memberships, and data export to this website.

• Display name: configurable (default Biker BOT) with optional custom emoji prefix on its server nickname
• Most member actions use slash commands (/command) or buttons on pinned channel messages
• Staff approve rides, events, and FSBO listings in the forms approval channel
• Scheduled jobs run while the bot is online (reminders, expiries, polls, exports)

Onboarding & roles

New members follow a guided flow from the pinned message in #welcome-start-here.

Flow

1. Start onboarding (button)
2. 18+ age confirmation — under-18 members receive an apology and cannot continue (18+ community)
3. Community rules (screens) — skipped if server rules already handle this (ONBOARDING_SKIP_RULES)
4. Male or female rider? — female riders receive the Female Rider role for #female-riders
5. Country → nickname (name, year, make/model) → Temporary User role
6. Introduction in #introductions (minimum character count) → Verified Rider role

Automatic on intro approval

• ✅ reaction on the intro message
• Welcome reply (auto-deletes after ~20 seconds)
• Hello post in #general-chat: “Please say hello to the newest member…”

#introductions rules

• Temporary Users post their intro here
• Verified Riders cannot post — reactions only; bot deletes their messages

#female-riders (visible lobby)

• Channel stays visible so the community knows a protected space exists
• @everyone can read; only Female Rider (and staff) can post
• Pinned buttons: About this space · Check my access (males get an ephemeral protected-space message)
• Male post attempts are removed; bot DMs the denial message when possible

Automatic background jobs

These run on a schedule while Biker BOT is online — no command needed.

Message-triggered automations

• Link moderation — removes Discord / WhatsApp / Telegram links (whitelist: social ads channel); DMs member with ticket button
• Ride highlights / build show-off / destinations — deletes free-text posts; only form + upload flow allowed
• Social profile channel — validates profile URLs, enforces cooldowns, auto-posts formatted embeds
• SOS app relay — HTTP API receives alerts from the mobile app and posts to SOS channels

Channel features (buttons & forms)

Many channels use a pinned bot message with buttons. Admins run a one-time /setup-* command in each channel.

Alert routing

• Emergency (crash unresponsive, manual emergency) — red embed · @everyone in emergency channel
• “I'm OK” after possible crash — blue embed · no @everyone
• Non-emergency assist — blue embed · details follow-up message
• Test alert — test channel only · no @everyone · logs test date

Responding button

On real alerts (not tests), members can click Responding to post coordination in the responding channel.

Monthly test

Verified members should test the app every 30 days. Bot sends reminder DMs when overdue. Use the pin in #sos-test or trigger a test from the app.

Rides, events & calendar

• /submit-ride — multi-step form → staff approval channel
• /submit-event — events (charity, track days, etc.)
• On approval: post to announcements channel + add to Discord calendar + export to website calendar
• Pinned monthly calendar in #events-calendar (admin: /setup-calendar)

FSBO marketplace

• /accept-listing-rules — required before first FSBO submission (grants FSBO Approved role when configured)
• /submit-fsbo-motorcycle · /submit-fsbo-gear · /submit-fsbo-parts
• Staff approve in forms channel → bot posts to marketplace channel + website export
• Listings auto-expire after 30 days
• Sponsored Business members have higher listing limits (configurable)

• VIP — role, nickname badge (custom emoji), FSBO private-seller access
• Sponsored Business — business badge, higher FSBO limits
• Website checkout (Stripe) can webhook the bot to grant membership automatically
• Admin fallback: /grant-membership
• Reminder DM 30 days before expiry; role removed when lapsed

• Blocks Discord invite links, WhatsApp, and Telegram links in most channels
• #advertise-your-social-media is whitelisted for profile links only
• On violation: message removed · DM with explanation · Request approval button
• Full ticket form → #tickets for staff Approve / Reject / Another action
• Approved links stored in repository; actions logged to #mod-log

Showcase & community engagement

Server boosts

When someone boosts the server: gold thank-you embed in #general-chat, booster DM, progress toward monthly Nitro goal.

Destinations map (website)

Approved #destinations posts export to JSON for a future map — rider-nominated pins + sponsored business overlay.

Bike of the Week

Weekly community poll managed by Biker BOT (not Discord native polls).

Same rider + bike name cannot win twice. Winners export to website JSON for gallery page.

Website sync

Biker BOT writes JSON files under website/data/ when content is approved or posted:
